Columnist embarks on walk of a lifetime There is a season for everything and the season for the 06776 column is ending. This will be our last chat for the foreseeable future. To all of you, I’d just like to say thanks for a wonderful trip. Your comments, suggestions and interest kept 06776 going. Together, we’ve drawn a nice little picture of New Milford over the years. Now I’m embarking on a new adventure and I’ll need your support more than ever. When you read this, I’ll be on Cape Cod preparing to begin a 3,600-mile walk across the U.S. on Route 6. I’ll write about the people and places I encounter every week in The News-Times and more than a dozen other newspapers across the country. If you live in New Milford, I’m the nut you’ve seen walking on the highways and byways from sunrise to sunset. I’ll soon be walking 100 miles a week for nine months — if I make it all the way. But I have the easy part of this project… |
