Hurley to embark on cross-country walk

Joe Hurley, a New Milford resident and retired News-Times reporter, will set out this weekend on a 3,600-mile walk along Route 6 from Provincetown on Cape Cod to Long Beach, Calif.
Mr. Hurley will be writing a weekly column for The News-Times and other newspapers along the route.
The longtime journalist, who retired as a full-time reporter last June, expects to walk 100 miles a week and take nine months to complete his adventure. In recent years, he’s completed walks across Connecticut from east to west and from north to south.
