Friday April 02, 2004 This is the first of a series of walk logs I'll be filing from time to time. I hope to file daily, but that's probably unrealistic. New Bedford to Fall River-- We got a late start this morning, then spent a lot of time in New Bedford, which is definitely worth another visit. I found out why there are so many Cape Verdeans and Portugese in this area of Mass and met a descendent of one of them. I also had some delicious Kale soup at a Portugese restaurant in New Bedford. Later I tried Portugese pastry in Fall River. In lent they make this sweetbread thing with a whole egg (shell and all) baked in the middle. This was a food day of sorts. I also sampled home made pickels and had a great fried cinnimon roll dripping with butter. Tonight we're staying at the fancy Johnson and Wales Inn outside Providence. I've got a funny story about me in the jacuzzi or whatever they call a bathtub with those jets of water..... |
