Tuesday April 13, 2004 Watertown, CT to Newtown, CT about 20 miles. It was raining as we reached Taft (Prep) School in Watertown. Not a good sign. It drizzled most of the morning and got a little better when two local men showed up to walk a bit with me. That was nice. But by mid-afternoon it was raining and as I began the last 5 mile stretch, I heard thunder. That was scary. But not as scary as seeing lightening. I was soaked by the end. On the other hand, I had a donut at Phillips Diner, which makes the best donuts around. Gourmet Magazine called them the best donuts in the U. S. I don't know about that, but they are darn good. If we don't get stopped by lightening, we'll emerge from Connecticut - thus New England - tomorrow. |
