Sunday April 18, 2004 Harrison, NY to Goshen-Middletown What a difference a day makes. Yesterday was all hills and highway. Today, most of the walk was on a great Bike trail from Monroe to Goshen. It was totally flat! The only trouble was there was no water along the route, so I went pretty thirsty for a stretch. But at least I remembered to buy sunscreen early in the day. We visited the Harness Racing Hall of Fame, where they have a Disney-type 3-D-plus motion exhibit that puts you in the middle of a race. That was neat and the museum was really nice. Had a nice feel to it. They could use more visitors, and they deserve them. Finally got some ice cream today after two days of dreaming about it. It wasn't that good. There's always tomorrow. We were going to head to West Point tomorrow - our day off. I'm planning to get ahead on next week's story and update the site a bit instead. I'm still hoping the government will give us permission to visit the US Mint at West Point on Thursday, but they weren't very encouraging when I talked with them last Friday. The first step is a security check. Anyway the day off is welcome, I've walked six of the past seven days and my feet feel it. I'm still looking for feedback on the stories in the newspapers. What's good, bad or in between? What could make it better? How are the pictures working? Is anyone finding the articles in their local papers or online? |
