Ohio

Didn't do any interviews today, but I walked 26 miles which put us back on schedule. We were about 7 miles behind at the start of the day. My legs and feet are really sore. I hope I didn't overdo it.

The weather here is weird. You don't know from minute to minute whether you're going to be in glaring sun, pouring rain, wicked thunder storms or even tornados. It makes New England weather look stable.

I start each day now with a rain coat and sunscreen. By the way, I lost my trusty poncho. Left it at a donut stand run by an amish woman. (Good donuts). I'm sure Travis and others will cheer the taped-together poncho's demise.

We made it to Cardon today and will be in the Cleveland outskirts (East Cleveland, perhaps) tomorrow if the weather holds up. Hard to believe.

We left the land of Oz (Pennsylvania) for sure. We had to pay for a hotel room tonight. That's due to poor planning on our, and especially, my part. I didn't get in touch with the local toursim bureau on time.

Ashtubula County Ohio got us a room on very short notice.

If anybody wants the job of contacting tourism bureaus in advance to line up hotels - most of them are very accomodating - the job is open. Short hours, no pay, but my eternal gratitude. Really, I'd love to have someone pick up this bit of our logistics… Joe.
