East of Vermilion to Almost Sandusky.

Had some folks walk with me today as we went from Vermilion to Huron, just on the edge of Sandusky. It helps having people take your mind of things like sore feet and how far you have left.

They gave me some nice info on the area too. I keep learning more about the Western Reserve and firelands, which I hope to get into a story some day. Maybe we'll get more walkers as time goes on. Maybe someone will contact Oprah (hint).

One of the walkers noted that we could see all the way to an island on the Canadian side. And this was from ground level.

I still can't pronounce Huron the way they do here, which is, of course, incorrect since everyone knows that the only folks who don't speak with an accent are native Bostonians.

Anyway I ended up pronouncing it "YOUR-in" to a group of 30-40 people last night. I thought I had it dead on. They thought my attempt was funny. But it's closer to "YOUR-in" than to the way most of us say it, (HEW-Ron).

Tomorrow: Huron, though Sandusky to the middle of nowhere (at least that's what the folks out here say: "There's nothing out there," they say when I tell them I'm aiming to end midway between Sandusky and Fremont. I guess I'd better carry some extra food and water.
