Wednesday June 09, 2004 Crossing the Line: Ohio to Indiana We crossed into Indiana today. It was a huge relief. I'm always happy to get to another state, even if I like the one I'm leaving. It's a reminder that you're moving forward. But this time it was physical. As soon as you cross from Ohio, the walking lane changes from teeny to wide. And with all those trucks wizzing by, it makes a huge difference. This section of Indiana is far more varied than I expected. There are hills, turns in the road, and towns (bathrooms) less than 10 miles apart. We visited a very neat animal sanctuary Monday. Lions and Tigers and Bears. Oh My! We've been getting some nice stories in local papers (Thanks for going to bat for us Lynn). Usually we don't get to see the stories because we're out of town by the time they appear. The Fort Wayne columnist can write. Met a guy riding a bike across the country today - on the roads and on the water. It's a bike that floats. He's got pontoons on the side and little paddles on the wheels. He may be odder than me - but I think it's close. Sorry I haven't written for a while, we haven't had much computer access for several days. But we're back now - at least for a while. We're heading into Amish Country in the next day or two or walking. |
