Nappanee to Walkerton, Indiana

Once again it was impossible to outguess the weather here. Started out ominously cloudy, then turned sunny then real cloudy again..... And in the second minute..... (joke). But it really does change fast here, much faster than New England. I've learned to take a poncho and sunscreen every day. Usually I'm glad.

We're in Amish country. Been learning about the Amish and the Mennonites. We ate at an Amish farm two days ago and I got to talk for a while with a young (39) guy who's trying to return to the traditional Amish ways. Many of them are now working in shops because there aren't enough farms to go around.

This area of Indiana is surprisingly varied. Lots of hills (not big ones, but hills - did I mention lots of them?) and the roads actually have curves in them in some places. I think I'm just about out of that area now…

Sorry there haven't been more updates, but we've had limited computer access again. Does anyone know of a provider that has better access than AOL or that has a FREE 800 number. AOL (those vultures) charge 10 cents a minute for their 800 number.

We're 61 miles from the Illinois. If there are no problems, we'll be walking through Gary to the state line Wednesday. Then we'll take a few days off. My wife and Travis' girl friend (that's two separate people) are arriving Wednesday, we hope.
