Casey to Adair IA

Well, we made it to Adair, which - one resident told us - is the highest point in Iowa. There is a sign at a local park which says it's the Iowa high point on the old Rock Island RR. That's good enough for me, especially since I spent just about all of Sunday afternoon going up (and down) hills on the way from Casey to Adair.

You see one hill and think, well this has to be the top. Then you reach the top and see more. That happened a lot.

It reminded me of the a particularly nasty stretch of Pennsylvania (in the Appalachians) where the hills weren't the highest, but there were sure a lot of them.

The hills are tough, but they make it some of the prettiest country we've encountered. Adair, by the way is the site of the first train robbery in the west, or so they say. Jessie James no less.

We should be in Omaha by Saturday.
