Fort Morgan to West of Wiggins, Colorado Not a lot of people out here once you leave the towns - but there's lots of cattle and scads very pretty sunflowers, or maybe they're daisies, or something else. But they are pretty and plentiful. It's been a steady, but very gradual uphill climb since we entered Colorado last week. Fort Morgan was 4,300 or so and it was basically uphill all day from there. Not hard and the weather was great. Got my first glimpse of the Rockies today. Just some peaks in the distance at first. Then more. Thery're pretty big! Makes me think twice about my decision to cross over Loveland Pass rather than trying to get permission to walk through Eisenhower (4 mile) Tunnel. People in eastern Colorado have sure treated us nice. Lots of receptions, meetings and get-togethers. People offering to help. Very nice and muchly appreciated. Lost a notebook yesterday, Spent night driving up and down road looking for it. It was safely waiting for me in a bakery I had stopped in. Should have looked there first, of course. Hmm, the wierd part is that I STILL think that lemon danish was worth it! |
