Casual Rockies

We're taking a break from the Route 6 trip for a few days to explore the Rockies. Right now my wife, Pat, and I are in Rocky Mountain National Park.

What a great place! You're right in the midst of those mountains with their snow caps, sheer cliffs and vistas. I confess… until now I thought the Rockies looked like nothing more than a big pile of rocks to me.

The trip across the ridge is magnificent -- and very scary for people who don't like heights. I didn't make it all the way before I decided I didn't want to go any higher.

Pat, of course, was still ooohing and ahhhing while I was trying to look anyplace but out over the (no guardrail) edge of the road.

There are so many wonderful towns here. Estes Park, Boulder (the college area), Georgetown, Idaho Springs. We ate in all of them.
