Vail Pass to Avon (almost)

We're nearly out of the mountains! Started today atop Vail Pass (a little
lower than Loveland) and nearly froze to death. It was cold, cold, cold. Maybe not as cold as Massachusetts in March, but back then I was smart enough to wear a coat.

It warmed a little after the first hour as we got more sun and came down a bit from the pass. By noon it was warm and by late afternoon it was hot.

Everbody (except the old folks) was wearing shorts and shirts (some guys
even skipped the shirts). I was still wearing the flannel shirt and sweat pants I had on at the mountain top. Oh, there were two other shirts under the flannel.

We've passed the two-thirds mark (less than 1,200 miles to go) and should reach Utah line a week from Sunday.
