Sunday-Friday October 03-08, 2004 Green River to (Beyond) Soldier Summit UT It's been a while between updates. Basically, I've been tired. Can't imagine why. Since we talked last, Travis and I slept in another bordello. The second in a week or so. The first was in Mack, Colorado. The second was in Helper, Utah. Of course both are former bordellos, but the character was still there in the Kenyon Inn in Helper, which was a mining and railroad town with 8 bordellos and 20-something bars in its hayday. Travis loved it. He spent about an hour taking pictures in the small old rooms, some of them with bare light bulbs hanging from the ceiling. That was just for atmosphere. The rooms were actually quite nice with lamps and stuff. During the week, I met a guy who has an impressive geyser in his yard. We also met a few dinosaurs and I walked up a ten-mile long hill that was as tough as anything I faced in the Rockies or anywhere else. At the top I reached the town where Butch Cassidy grew up. Met a man whose grandfather was Butch's pal. What a story he had to tell. I'll explain in the next story, but here's a hint: don't believe everthing you see in the movies. |
