Sacramento Pass (elev. 7,154 ft) to Connors Pass (elev. 7,722 ft)

Saw the first snowflakes of the trip today.

Never expected to be walking in snow in Nevada! [Of course, I never expected to see mountain after mountain either.]

Looked at the map the other day. We'll cross 10-15 ranges in the 300-miles across the state.

And, cold? My, was it cold! I started Utah wearing just a t-shirt and graduated to two shirts by mid-state. By Nevada it was a t-shirt and heavy flannel shirt. Today I added a jacket.

"The desert is supposed to be flat and hot" - well, that's according to someone who spent most of his life in New England.

Stayed at motel on the state line a few days ago, then at a ranch at the end of Box Canyon and now at a historic hotel-casino in a Ely, which is no where near Reno or Las Vegas. Lots and lots of famous people stayed here. Jimmy Stewart's room is just two doors away from ours.
