San Fernando to Glendale CA

We're getting close. I walked through San Fernando this morning and Burbank this afternoon, ending in Glendale. Along the way people were warning me about San Fernando, saying it's dangerous with lots of bad characters. I didn't see any bad characters, just people going about their Sunday morning routines: grocery shopping, church, walking with the kids.

And, San Fernando center was a nice little town.

Burbank was much bigger and much, much more touristy. I always thought those "Beautiful Downtown Burbank" comments were a joke and the city wasn't beautiful at all. Actually it's very, very nice. Part outdoor mall and part tree liined main street. Very nice. But I hesitate to ask what things cost here.

It such a contrast to the country places we've been to. I'm sure the shoppers here spend more in a day than some folks in those small towns spend in a month. Which one is the "real" America. I don't know.

I'm really impressed with the drivers here. They actually stop and let you walk across the street. Much different than the mow-em-down philosophy back east. We'll see if I continue to be impressed once we drive our camper on the freeways.
